How do you make a sequel to a phenomenon—especially when that phenomenon was 2018’s immensely popular Coles Little Shop?

The idea was simple: each Little Shop product you scanned in the app would unlock a new mascot who you could celebrate your new piece with a fun little victory dance mini-game.

 
 

The execution of this idea was however, was very far from simple.

We needed to design, model and implement 31 different mascots for 31 different brands all with 31 different ideas about who they wanted to represent their product. And all of that is without mentioning ironing out the UX, gameplay mechanics and all of the associated marketing collateral to support the launch. I’m not complaining though, because the end result was fantastic and a true testament to everyone involved.
